01

What gets built

Planning systems, end to end. Five kinds of engagement, all of them builds.

01

Budgeting and forecasting

The core FP&A cycle. Annual budget, rolling forecast, long range plan, driver based where the drivers are real.

02

Revenue planning

Bookings to billings to revenue, built on the contract mechanics that govern recognition.

03

Workforce and operational planning

Headcount, cost and capacity wired to the financial plan, and to the HRIS and hiring systems.

04

Model review and rebuild

For a model that works but cannot safely be changed. Dependency map, findings, and a plan.

05

Retained build capacity

Enhancements, restructures and close support for teams without a builder of their own.

PLAN ACTUAL THE PIVOT

Plan against actual. What happens after the two separate is decided by the architecture underneath.

02

The Action Pivot Build Standard

Five stages, every build, every platform. The first two are signed off before a module exists.

01 structure dimensions, hierarchies, grain 02 flow source to target, integrations 03 logic calculations, dependencies, rules 04 experience modules, dashboards, workflow 05 control naming, docs, testing, governance
01

Structure

Dimensions, hierarchies, grain and sparsity. This decides the size, speed and lifespan of everything above it.

02

Flow

Source to target, imports and integrations, traced end to end before anything is wired.

03

Logic

Calculations and dependencies built in layers, so any change has a knowable blast radius.

04

Experience

Modules, dashboards and workflow shaped around how the team runs a cycle.

05

Control

Naming, documentation, testing and governance, written while the build happens.

03

Platforms

Deep certification in two platforms, and actively building on the newer generation of planning tools. The right platform depends on the problem, and the reasoning comes in writing.

anaplan tends to fit when
  • consolidation spans many entities and currencies
  • a planning centre of excellence already runs it
  • years of custom logic are worth preserving
  • the operating model is structurally stable
pigment tends to fit when
  • the business restructures often
  • the planning team is small and wants autonomy
  • integration work is bottlenecked behind IT
  • the planning function is being built now

move

Migration between platforms

Moving an estate means reading and translating years of logic in the model being replaced. Knowing the outgoing platform deeply is what makes the incoming one work.

new

Newer planning platforms

Modern planning tools go live in weeks rather than quarters. The architecture underneath still decides whether they survive the first restructure, and they get built to the same standard.

partner

Vendor partnerships

Action Pivot works with planning platform vendors as an implementation partner: certified delivery capacity and a documented build standard, so implementations land the same way every time.

04

About Action Pivot

A US-registered LLC. Remote-first, working globally.

Action Pivot builds one thing: planning systems that hold up after handover. Every engagement runs against the Action Pivot Build Standard, so architecture is documented and signed off before construction, and certified build capacity is added as scope requires.

01

One standard, every build. The method does not change with the platform, the client, or who is available that month.

02

Whoever scopes it, builds it. A direct line between the conversation and the model.

03

Documentation is part of the build. Written as the work happens, not appended at the end.

04

Straight answers. You get the reasoning behind every recommendation, in writing, before a decision is made.

Ways to work together

Most engagements start with a conversation. Four shapes it usually takes, whether you are a finance team, a consultancy, or a platform looking for delivery capacity.

Project build

A system, built end to end

Scoped to the outcome you need, architected and signed off before construction, handed over documented.

Retained capacity

Ongoing build support

Enhancements, restructures and close support for teams carrying a platform without a builder of their own.

Partner delivery

Capacity for boutique firms

Subcontracted build capacity and named SME support for consultancies and platform partners carrying more work than builders. Your client relationship, your paper, our standard on the model.

Structured review

The Groundwork Review

Fixed fee, two weeks. A written read on the model you already own: dimensionality and hierarchy assessed against the standard, a dependency map, data flow traced source to reporting, and findings ranked by change risk. Credited against the build if you proceed.

Questions

What can Action Pivot do for you?

Action Pivot builds and improves planning, forecasting and the data systems around them: financial planning, revenue, workforce, incentive and operational planning. The emphasis is on structure, calculation logic, usability and maintainability, so the system still works when the business changes.

What about time zones?

Action Pivot works flexibly across global time zones and accommodates distributed teams where needed.

What tools can we build in?

The deepest certification is in Anaplan and Pigment. Action Pivot actively partners with newer planning platforms, and builds appropriate custom systems where a packaged tool is the wrong answer.

How do we start?

With a conversation. Enough to understand the requirement, the current environment and the outcome you are after. No obligation either way.

What is the engagement model?

Flexible. Project-based builds, retained build capacity, subcontracted delivery for consultancies and platform partners, or the structured Groundwork Review. Whichever fits the problem.
